Before You Start

What you needDetails
A modern browserPhone or computer — Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge. Nothing to install.
Age 18 or overYou confirm your age at sign-up, and the terms allow banning underage accounts.
A registered accountOnly registered players keep a save. Sign up before investing hours.
A 6+ character passwordBind an email too — without it, a lost password means a lost city.
30 minutes for hour oneRegistration, character creation, the birth lottery and your first job take about half an hour.

Your First Hour

  1. 1

    Create your account

Open lagoslife.app and register — it takes under a minute. Bind an email straight away: it's the only way to recover your password if you lose it.

  2. 2

    Build your character

Pick your look from Nigerian styles like gele, ankara, adire and aso-oke, choose two traits, and set a lifetime dream such as “Oga at the Top”. Traits tweak your start; the dream is your long-term goal.

  3. 3

    Take the birth lottery

One roll per account, no rerolls. Nepo Baby starts with ₦500,000 and a Lekki apartment. LAPO Baby starts with a ₦60,000 micro-loan and owes ₦12,000 every week — plan your first Saturdays around that payment.

  4. 4

    Find a home

Nepo Babies are placed in Lekki. Everyone else chooses: a UNILAG student hall bed for ₦1,200 a week, a Mushin shared room for ₦2,400, or Yaba for ₦6,000. Cheap rent is the best safety net while you learn the game.

  5. 5

    Apply for a job

Open your in-game phone and apply — most jobs start the next day. Show up to every shift; miss one and you're fired. Starting pay is small, and promotions come from repeating shifts and building skills.

  6. 6

    Manage your needs

Six needs drain in real time — keep them topped up around your shifts. Let them slide and your character weakens: moves slower, earns worse, and spirals fast.

  7. 7

    Survive your first Saturday

Rent is due every Saturday. Work your shifts, add side hustles when they're off cooldown (about 20 minutes each), and keep a cash buffer. Make it through week one and the loop becomes second nature.

Core Mechanics at a Glance

MechanicHow it works
Six live needsFood, energy, hygiene and more decay in real time — schedule life around your shifts.
NEPA power cutsBlackouts roll across the city. Generators — yours or pay-per-use — keep the lights and the fridge on.
Real venue hoursClubs like the Shrine come alive late at night; the hospital and police stations run 24/7.
Danfo commutesYellow buses carry you between the 28 map locations — travel time is real, plan around it.
A shared online cityYou share every street with real players — chat, trade, visit homes, or just people-watch.

Making Your First Naira

Shifts are the backbone: steady pay, promotion levels to climb, and no startup cost. Side hustles slot around them — quick gigs you can repeat once their cooldown (roughly 20 minutes) resets. The safest Lagos life tip there is: never sit at zero naira when a hustle is available.

Once you've banked about ₦150,000 you can buy your first business — a kiosk or card stand that earns while you play. Land is the next rung: six plots across the city, starting at ₦250,000. Trucking routes and the CcHub startup pitch add bigger swings later. The whole climb, phased from week one to endgame, is in our Lagos Life money guide.

There are no cheat codes or money glitches that work — see our Lagos Life codes page for why “free naira” offers are scams, and what to do instead.

The Multiplayer Layer

Lagos Life is one shared world: everyone on a server lives in the same city at the same time. You can transfer naira to other players, chat, visit their homes, and watch the weekly governor's election rewrite city policy.

The daily hunt events pull tens of thousands of players into the streets at once. The same openness has a cost: other players can scam you. Trade the way you would on a Lagos street — friendly, but always verifying.

5 Beginner Mistakes to Avoid

  1. 1

    Skipping the email bind

No email means no password recovery. One forgotten password and your save is gone.

  2. 2

    Spending before Saturday

Rent is due weekly and it's the one bill you can't dodge. Keep the buffer; buy the shoes next week.

  3. 3

    Missing shifts

Jobs don't hold your seat. A no-show is a firing, and a firing restarts the income loop from zero.

  4. 4

    Ignoring the needs bars

A decaying character earns less and moves slower. Maintenance is always cheaper than recovery.

  5. 5

    Typing your password off-site

Any site promising free naira for your login is phishing. Your password belongs on the official address only.
